free time has me cleaning up & thinking (hidden past revealed)

Sunday, January 03, 2010

okay, so i've been going nuts not being able to work out (and it's only been a few days)..my diet has been really good the past few days, i am really focusing on eating as super clean as possible emoticon

but anyway, all this free time i figured i'd start cleaning my basement...which has magazines, pictures and all sorts of YEARS worth of crap piled up...

anyway, i was going through old photo albums...first feeling proud i don't look as bad as i once did..but also thinking...
for a super brief time in my life (less then a year), when i was about 18, i actually attempted to model. emoticon
i have done a few independent photoshoots for photographer portfolios, was in seventeen once, went on casting calls & even went to the Barbizon School of modeling & graduated...
emoticonat this time i was about 20 pounds or so bigger then i am now, but wasn't at my all time heaviest (that happened not long after, i think i got fed up & gave up)...
but what happened was, every time i went to try out for jobs or whatever, i was bluntly told i was too short (i'm 5'5) and too fat...i was told i was too fat & too heavy repeatedly...
emoticonaside from being told i was fat, more then one place said if i was only thinner or dropped the weight, i would be a great model because i knew how to pose and my face wasn't bad (weren't they so kind)...
when i was younger, i quit & gave up a lot...instead of trying to lose the weight then, i thought i was horrible, helpless, would be fat forever and just gave it up completely...

anyway, so i got an e-mail from glamour shots the other day (never removed myself from their mailing list)...there's some model search going on where the winner can get $3,000!!! i can desperately use the cash, and i always did enjoy having fun posing and such...
so i'm thinking, i am thinner now then i was when i first attempted to model, even though i'm not at my ideal size...

should i go for it and enter anyway?? i'm thinking really have nothing to lose..

here are some of the shots from back then..

it's funny, even when i was heavier, i never had a huge problems with my legs, it's always my stomach and ESPECIALLY my arms & face i gain in first emoticon

i can see the difference in my face so much how i slimmed...there are other shots were i look even bigger, but i am not posting those

should i attempt the model contest? i would have til the end of feb to do it so i can get in even better shape then i am now if i keep eating clean & hopefully get back to work outs by then

emoticon

Go for it. Better to try then to wonder "if I tried" 3 years down the line.

I think you should totally try! Aside from the height thing, you have everything else! I am shallow in that I always analyze people's faces (haha) I always look at pics of myself and others and say, if I could fix that or change that, I'm not being mean it's just an obsession lol..but your face is perfect for modeling! Great bone structure, symmetry etc.. not to mention you are gorgeous! It's a lot of work I hear though, and so many girls out there, but give it a try why not? too bad you didn't join up last season of ANTM they had a 5'7 and under theme for the show. Good luck whatever you do and happy new year!
