Day 2 (again) - My Ladies of Well-Being

Saturday, January 02, 2010

I represent my values through “My Ladies of Well Being.” They are (in alphabetical order):

My Lady of Belonging & Health

My Lady of Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem

My Lady of Financial Stability

My Lady of Integrity & Authenticity

My Lady of Zest & Risk Taking

All of them roll up together to my well being.

In 2010, here is what I’ll be doing regularly to achieve well being by the end of the year:

• I will do at least 30 minutes aerobic exercise 4 days a week. [Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Belonging & Health])
• I will do at least 10 minutes of stretching every day. [Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Belonging & Health]
• I will do at least 30 minutes of strength building every day when I am healthy enough. [Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Belonging & Health]
• I will log my food. [Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Belonging & Health; Integrity & Authenticity]
• I will weigh and measure my food when possible. [Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Belonging & Health; Integrity & Authenticity]
• I will have at least 64 ounces of liquid every day (includes water, seltzer, herbal tea, other beverages, soup.) [Belonging & Health]
• I will stay within my calorie range at least 5 days a week. [Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Integrity & Authenticity; Belonging & Health]
• I will get my website in shape [Financial Stability; Zest & Risk Taking].
• I will do crafts every month [Financial Stability; Zest & Risk Taking].
• I will be positive at work [Financial Stability; Zest & Risk Taking; Integrity & Authenticity].
• I will do work for IHN regularly (at least 3x a month) [Financial Stability; Integrity & Authenticity].

I will build up to all of this – adding one goal each week. If I have troubles with a goal, I will allow myself to not add another goal and concentrate on that goal for another week. Once I am juggling all these goals, I will concentrate particularly on one each week. [Zest & Risk Taking; Comfort, Grace & Self-Esteem; Integrity & Authenticity]

I LOVE THIS Pesha! Your lovely and diverse group of ladies are fitting symbols for these values! I really dig "My Lady of Zest and Risk Taking". You are very creative and original in your thinking. I like your style!

As far as your goals, I love the fact that they are realistic and allow you to correct anything that goes astray in a positive and not punitive way. I've read tons of New years lists, resolutions, goals, even a contract and most of them seem to me to be setting people up for failure. Sometimes there's a very fine line between vision and reality and I do think you have to consider reality. When you set the goals too high, then you create so much more stress and voila! back on the treadmill of failure and low self esteem. Of course, that's just my opinion.....I will support all my SparkFriends in all their goals, I just think you've done a superb job with framing yours the right way! Kudos!
Stay warm! Our principal emailed us that the building would be freezing most of the morning since the district wouldn't allow the custodian in to fire up the furnace and the building's been closed since Wednesday. The Hawk is out in full force tonight (Too bad the Eagles weren't....) emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
