Reflecting back on 2009 and looking ahead at 2010

Monday, December 28, 2009

It's hard to believe that I have not blogged here since last January! It was interesting rereading what I had written, however. I really have made some progress this year in freeing up some of my time.
I was finally able to relinquish my most time-consuming and stressful job in June, although it was given to someone who needs a lot of help, teaching, and hand-holding. I end up going in for an afternoon every three weeks or so - still more than I want to be involved, but certainly much better than it was. They are still looking for a permanent Finance Director, and then I will be out completely.

I also rolled off a couple of committees which were stress-filled, if not time-consuming.

The Torch weekend in November took months of planning and organizing. Technically I should have been assigned a young man to mentor on a weekly basis, but things turned out differently. I really feel that God stepped in there and removed a responsibility from me that I did not really want but was committed to carrying out. I feel a little guilty being happy that I did not get assigned a mentee, but on the other hand, God knows me best!

I am cautiously optimistic that I can truly spend some time on me this year. I have already started with my exercise program -- with the Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, EA Active, and DDR for the Wii. My exercise bike has now been repaired, so I now have that at my disposal. It all is actually fun, and so far I continue to be motivated!

I have put on a lot of the weight I had lost, so I am rather depressed about that. Christmas photos never lie, and they actually gave me the final kick in the rear to get moving. One step at a time......I can do this.

I'm so glad that you'll be able to spend a little more time on yourself this year. If you can take this excitement and carve out time for a couple of weeks, hopefully it will become a habit. It amazes me how fast (good or bad) habits can develop. Sorry about the Christmas photos - I'm glad I don't have any, and am going to try to avoid ones on New Year's Eve!!
