Why do I stress myself out like this?

Sunday, December 20, 2009

It's Sunday morning and my in-laws are coming to stay with us tomorrow.
I will be happy to see them, but my mother in law is a bit of a neat freak, and well...I'm not!
We gave the house a cleaning yesterday, but today I'm stressing myself out about silly things like the fact that my cupboards and drawers are not organized. I'm also worrying about what to make to eat...I want to keep everyone happy, but I don't want to blow my diet.
I wonder why I let myself get so worked up about silly things like this? I think it's time to put my workout clothes on and see if I can change my perspective!

Oh, boy, do I understand! Only, it's my FIL who can be so critical. But, we're at their house right now, and it's a disaster zone (my little nieces came to live with them), so I think I'm cured of worrying when they visit me in the future. I wish you the same peace of mind, however it may come!

I use to stress about what other people though of me and my home. That is until I realized that more people were concerned about what I thought of them then the other way around. Now as long as Loreen is happy and I can look in the mirror every morning and not be ashamed I am not too concerned about what others think of me or my home.

    Have a great Christmas,

I understand, more than you know! I used to do the same thing but one day I said enough of this. It is MY house, not theirs and they are supposed to be coming to see US not the housekeeping. We are not super messy people but the dust bunnies flourish here sometimes, hehehe. We have a Pomeranian and I occasionally have a dust bunny roll across the floor like a tumbleweed. If you have done your cleaning, then relax a little. I mean if the cabinets bother you then set everything up where they don't have to open them. Place a tray of nice clean glasses next to the drinks and Stack dishes, buffet style. Remember why they are here. To spend time with you and the family. Enjoy yourself!! emoticon

I am so very much the same way. I freak out when company comes. It's just two of us and we are not messy people, but we aren't neat freaks and I always panic before people come. Yes, cupboards, closets, anything. I start to see things through other people eyes and it's never enough. When it's over I always think - next time will be better - no one ran screaming from my house because they saw a dust bunny made of cat hair or an infamous spider web in the rafters by the cathedral ceiling. Yet, it's almost time for Christmas and I am already using those other people eyes. I have got to get different rosier colored glasses and turn the lights down. They say dust looks like diamonds in candlelight. :)

    Enjoy your time together.

I understand how you are feeling. Just try your best not to worry about anything! Do your best, but then give yourself a limit. Mom in law is a neat freak...you're not, but it's your house :)

Just try ro relax and stay focused.

    Many Blessings,

You worry about things like this because you care. If you weren't a caring person stuff like this wouldn't bother you. Take a deep breath. The house isn't as messy as you think it is. Have a good visit too!
