My Holiday Strategy

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

OK, this worked for me for Thanksgiving, so I'm doing it again for Christmas..for the next week I will be uping my workouts in length and intensity as well as working out more frequently in prep for the three days worth of Christmas events we have. I will also cut my calories a little and really watch my nutrition. Then, I will allow myself what I want at the events we have. NOT stuffing myself of course, but if I want whipped cream on my blueberry waffles, I'll have it. I plan to choose the things I really want and forego the things that are just so so to me. I did this for Thanksgiving and came out without any gain, so here's hoping the same is true for Christmas! It makes for a much less cranky mommy when I don't have to watch everyone else eat the good stuff. Feeling deprived all the time is NOT what this is about:)
Don't beat yourself up if you DO gain for the holidays. If you slip up, just turn right around the next day and make good choices...don't throw the baby out with the bath water! It's all just choices. HUGS and Merry Christmas everyone!

I did the same thing at Thanksgiving. I'm eating very healthy right now and giving it a little extra ummmph in my workouts. I'm going to enjoy chocolate pie for Xmas....just a piece not the whole pie.

Sounds like a good plan. Thanks for sharing. I think for a lot of people, feeling deprived is what causes them to quit....once again, you are right-if you mess up, just do better the next day. Have a wonderful Christmas. Jeannie
