Almost Did It!

The other day I was doing some searching on the net. I came to a page that suddenly changed and began "scanning" my computer. It tried to tell me that I had so many trojans and viruses and malware on my computer that it wasn't funny. For most, they would freak about this and download what it said to download. I did not. Thanks to Sue and Bernadette, I was not fooled to put a virus on my computer by this page. I instantly recognized the antivirusprv that I was instructed to download IMMEDIATELY. I tried to say no to it. It would not let me leave the site! It kept popping back to download immediately. I closed down mozilla completely to get away from the page, but refused to download it.
I have antivirus protection on my computer. I have malware protection. My computer scans for viruses and malware non stop. Yes once in a while a trojan does get through these various protectors but not often. They will get through easily enough though if one "safely" downloads them.
My advice to those that are not all that computer savvy:
Never download anything you didn't ask for specifically from a website.
Don't believe the scare tactics! If a page pops up and says you have so many viruses, trojans, etc on your computer and you need their program now, close the page immediately and do a scan of your own. If the page does not want to close, as in the case of many web hijackers, take the next step and shut down your computer. Do NOT download anything from these pages!
Reboot your computer and do a complete scan immediately.
Hopefully, today, someone will read this blog and save themselves a lot of major headache and grief from not being able to use their computer.
Have a great day!
