Want to have band removed

Monday, December 07, 2009

OK..it has been a year since I logged on. I hate the band. I have gained back the weight. I hater the feeling I get when i am really hungry, or I am dining out and I eat a few bites and feel like gagging. I drink something so i can swallow. I hate the whole idea of drinking before and after eating, not during. Not natural. Docs were misleading when they siad I will feel satiated with the band...wrong...i stillfell HUNGRY but can's get much down. What's FULL is my gullet. My brain says you haven't eaten enough. The band itseld has twisted and the only way to get fills is with a machine that xrays it as the fill is done. I want it out and I want gastric bypass.

Texasgirl gave some really good advice. Maybe it would help for you to sit down with the provider who did your original mental health consult and talk things out before you make any kind of decision. You and I both know that our biggest battle is between our ears. Hang in there!

I'm sorry you are having such results with the band. I don't know how much information you had before the band or how ready you were to get it. Sometimes people just think the band is a magic fix and don't work with it. Have you had fills on a regular basis? The band doesn't normally twist. Maybe your doctor only gives fill under fluro, how long has he been doing the band? As far as the bypass goes, it is not a magic fix either. I have a friend who has one and all she ever eats is soft stuff because she doesn't want to spend time chewing. You have to really watch what you eat and it is not guaranteed you will lose and keep off the weight with it either. I know several people who had bypass, lost a lot of weight quickly and have now gained most of it back. You might want to look into the sleeve. With the sleeve they cut away part of your stomach including the part that has the nerve that tells you when you are full or hungry. Good luck with what ever you choose to do.

Sorry the band isn't working for you. It sounds like you are right to want it out.

I am sorry that you are having trouble with the band. My cousin had some success with it, but I think she was a bit disappointed with the total results. I really don't think you should have Gastric Bypass surgery. You are not heavy enough for such a drastic procedure are you? Please give it careful thought before you decide. I am here for you either way!!!!
