Discovery.... It Is TRUE What They Say

Sunday, November 29, 2009

The first two weeks of November I exercised on my bike quite a bit, and ate at the upper end of my caloric range. I did very well. Those two weeks I lost over 8 pounds. The following two weeks I was back to my old self, eating little, lucky to get in 900 calories a day on most days. I skipped meals because I just wasn't hungry. I was too tired to exercise. The result of the first week : I gained almost a pound. .9 to be exact. The second week has been much the same. Not eating enough, not exercising enough, The past two days I realized what I am doing and started getting more calories and forcing myself to eat three times a day. Yes I have to force myself because I am so used to not eating often. It is very easy for me not to eat, even after being here for six months. These are life time habits I am trying to change here. I grew up with not having enough to eat. My father was a bad gambler and many days we went without food.
I found that the two weeks that I ate well(three meals no problem) I actually felt hungry before I ate. I was waking up and eating within an hour of waking because I felt hunger. This is a very good thing. I was also finding that I could go no more than four hours without eating something substantial. This is also a good thing. Eating well affords me much more energy. I do not tire as easily. I do more around the house. I want to exercise more because I feel like doing it.
To those of you who skip meals constantly, you are not doing yourself any favours. One makes their body over work by not eating properly and enough to sustain them. The metabolism slows greatly, the body goes into starvation mode. One feels constantly tired.
So all I can say with my discovery is eat up, eat well, eat healthy. Give your body the energy it needs to be able to do other things. The more you do, the more you will need to eat to sustain what you do. Eat proper portions and you will take off all you want and need to. Your body will work with you if you work with it. Have a good day all emoticon

It just seems wrong that eating more will help you lose weight, but it's true! I get people asking me all the time if I'm starving myself... they can't believe it when I tell them I'm eating more than I ever did! You're doing great! Keep up the good work!!

Great Words Girl!!! I have found working out like I was and trying to eat less I stayed soooooooooo tired... The inches were good, but the pounds another story. I'll heed your advice and see about some more tweaking. I will get it right!

    Hugs!!!
