Turkey Trot 5K & Thanksgiving Magic!
Saturday, November 28, 2009
So, thanks to POKIEFUZZBUCKET I ran the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving and had a great time! It put such a shine on the rest of the day that it has me wondering if there is such a thing as an endorphin overdose.
Finn & me before the race. Yes, that is an antique strapped to my arm.
Well, just before the race I get tapped on the shoulder and turn around to see my old and very dear high school friend staring at me. Haven't seen her in about 15 years! We jogged along together catching up and what a trip because the race route is our old field hockey running route from school. Blast! My time blew (34:??) but who cares I reconnected with someone and something very wonderful from the past. Really had me thinking about life all day and not in a bitter crappy way :) Honestly I think I had some kind of re-birth out there. I would love to write more about this at some point. In fact, I think a whole "exercise epiphany" blog is in order. Some serious dookie goes on during my workouts.
Another quick pic. The post run nurse. Check the mud on my leg. Sloppy form. Sloppy, sloppy form.
Anywhooch... This weekend has been all around magical in that I haven't been depressed and I'm here at 9:30 p.m. completely pumped to get the 30 day shred underway tomorrow. I'm just feeling really good. Excited about life and looking forward to the coming of the solstice. It isn't lost on me that this is a little manic, but whatever. We'll see how this energy translates to action. I am going to give Spark a more serious effort for a little while. Really track my food and study where I'm getting hung up. "Work the program" basically. Sound good?
