Thanks to you.

To make a long story short, Gram decided she's not having Thanksgiving this year, she's going to her niece's house. That kinda leaves me hanging without any substantial Thanksgiving plans this year, and no back up plan. I'm sure I could weasel in at my brother's, or something, but I didn't even give a courtesy notice. I'm not feeling sorry for myself, it's just a change of life that kind of surprised me.

I've never had Thanksgiving at (gasp!) a restaurant, but maybe I'll give it a go.

But anyway, thanks, everyone, for making it fun here. It's a great place to be and I like you all. Next year, I'll plan on cooking and you're all invited.

There are several rules at my house, though, which may be out of the ordinary.

* The TV stays off.

* Singing IS allowed at the table. My dad hated singing at the table. I have changed that rule.

* Kids get their own bowl of at least 10 black olives so they can put them on their fingers.

* Snack all you want. And eat your dessert with dinner, or even before. I'm ok with that, too.

* Dark meat lovers get shown extra love.

Have a great long weekend, everyone. If you go shopping on Friday, wave at my bedroom curtains on your way to Kohl's.

P.S. Beard is back. :)

I would officially like to put in my request to attend Thanksgiving at your house and i'll bring plenty of extra olives.

One question - Are adults allowed to wear olives on each of their fingers too? That would be great if you ask me. :)

Count the three of us, Papa, Mama and Little Tornado in for next year!

Hope your Thanksgiving was good. As for your rules, well I think they are pretty darn awesome. As for the black olive thing- well both my daughters always put them on their fingers. In my opinion, that is all they are good for, but to each his own! Ha!

And snacking and eating dessert before dinner? Well, you are my kind of host! I'll be at your doorstep next year begging for my share of dark meat and pumpkin pie.

Great rules! I love the dark turkey meat and the skin!!!! This year someone couldn't stay for the whole dinner so we had dessert first and until just recently (like this year or last) my kids who are 19 (the twins) and 21 have stopped putting the black olives on their fingers. I think I fu$ked it up for them when I served greek olives with the pits! What song would you sing at Thanksgiving? Thanks For The Memories? Alanis Morrisette's "Thank You". Or how about Thank You For Being A Friend (Golden Girls theme song). We ate, listened to some great music at dinner, and played Scattegories, and then watched Raising Arizona.

P.S. I am a big fan of the FACE KITTEN!!!!!!

I saw your status and wanted to come by with a friendly smile. Boy, do I know about those life changes that leave you feeling "surprised". If you don't get a "Where's Albert?" phone call, go to the restaurant expecting an adventure. We did that once. There's a special comraderie for a special day.

The most important thing is to celebrate life and be grateful for your unique journey.

Maybe you could squeeze in the time to sketch out a few beard designs that demand a second look.

It's a little late to make travel plans, but you're welcome here in Phx. We'll even watch the Detroit Lions! Have a great turkey day no matter what you decide. My friend Cindy and I are doing our own thing this year instead of the usual family get together and might even go to the movies. Happy Thanksgiving!
