It's Monday (already ?)

Monday, November 23, 2009

It’s Monday, and it feels like the weekend was swallowed by a blackhole, leaving nothing behind but 6 jars of jewel-like quince jelly and a kitchen that looks like a disaster. Why yes I am in process of turning the gorgeous left-over pulp into quince paste/cheese…except I did not count on the bubbling of the mixture, sputtering its lava-hot bubbles all over the cooker, the floor, the cook…
We had a friend over on Saturday, so my day was spent shopping, peeling, chopping, cooking and then eating, and then going to bed later than my body can cope with, and when Sunday was here, my original plans of clearing up and sorting stuff out turned to mush as I collapsed, exhausted, on the sofa with little on my mind beside catching up on TV from the week gone and getting some knitting done.
I *did* run my 30-minutes Sunday run, but after that the energy was gone, and lunch was reheated dinner from the previous night, and nibbles became dinner as I foolishly stayed up for the Top Gear boys (then realised lunch was not packed…all in all ending in yet another late night).

So it’s Monday and my aching body from too-infrequent exercise is struggling. I did not have coffee this morning, only green tea, and my brain is still fuzzy and sending a non-stop plea for some sugar, some stodge, some warm comfort as I fight the urge to curl up under my desk for a sneaky nap.

I gave in to the call of the sweet soft chestnut-filled chocolate, but I know that a healthy salad awaits me for lunch, and the sunny sky invites me to take a walk in the fresh air…

I know in the long run I will be fine. I will find my marks, my new routine, squeeze exercise in, eat well, but right now it is hard!

But at least I can congratulate myself on fitting in my work clothes (at least some of them)…otherwise it would have been a very awkward first 2 weeks in the office!

So wishing all my Spark Friends a will of iron if they are facing Thanksgiving’s tempting foods…at least that is one thing we need not worry about in Europe!

Happy Monday !!

    Hi there emoticon !
I've had a crazy couple of months, but I'm pretty much back on SP to catch up on my SFs and my healthy life style.
I'm so glad to see that you have found a job. Congrats and I wish you all the best.

    Yum, quince jelly sounds lovely!

Stay away from the chocolate as best you can. Think of it as a nice reward at night for sticking to your food and exercise goals!

Yes, Thanksgiving can be tough, but I agree, Christmas is tougher. Turkey at least is marginally healthy for you!

Wishing you a wonderful week, Adeline!

LOL . . . . I don't know what it is, I don't even like cars all that much, but I love watching Top Gear. So, I can understand your call last night. Sounds like you are slowly figuring things out. You just made a major change in your lifestyle, so please do not underestimate its repercussions on all other aspects of your life and energy levels. Eventually you will find a new equilibrium and will able to get back to the weightloss pace you were used to. Just give it time and do what ever you can, when you can.

Thanksgiving is hard but the Christmas season is harder. It lasts much longer.
Pick your battles and focus! Hope your work week goes well and get more sleep LOL! You sound like me-only 24 hours in a day and I need 48 to get it all done! emoticon
