To my friends

There is an old saying, "He who has a thousand friends, has not a friend to spare." I have many friends, and many of my friends are Sparkfriends. It truly grieves me when I lose a friend, for whatever reason, and especially when I have the ability to prevent it.
We are Spark "friends". We are not Spark "strangers" or Spark "acquantainces", but friends. When we are friends, we share our victories as well as our troubles...that's what friends are for. I have seen too many of us sign on to Sparkpeople, and then when we experience difficulty, we drop out. We need to turn to our friends and ask support and advice. Don't be afraid to contact a Sparkfriend for advice or support. Spark-mail one of us, join us in the Huddle, blog, but come to us! You are my friends, and I want to be there for you. If you think about quitting because it's just too hard, contact me or one of your friends. We are here for you!

Keep on Sparkin'!!!!!!!

Spark ya' later!

Brian

This is too true! Friends can be so inspirational and can aid us in our healthy journey! We should all reach out a hand to others in need of support or guidance. You never know when you will be the one asking for help. Keep up the love. emoticon

I donĀ“t totally grab this "friend"-philosophy and as already pointed out it is hard for me as a swede to inderstand measures and food names on the food tracker. But I am old and experienced and secure enough to think that I can toddle along and do the best I can.

I am probably not friendly enough with spark friends all the time - but I am safe in believi9ng that there are so many of us trying with a positive attitude so somebody will always be there when needed.

Spark people woult not have become so important to me i8f not for all the encouraging tools to ve social. I love giving out goodies and I love commenting and writing - but I blushingly confess that I would probably not have mastered the handeling (being foreign and all) if not for points, rewards and goodiesystem. Those systems encourage me to do it NOW - instead of hesitating and waiting until I am sure that I do it "right". I just dive in and do it!

Thanks for the message Brian. I agree with SlenderClaire that the very American nature of the site can be daunting at first but if one makes the effort to enter foods & their nutritional info using Foods not listed tab it is surprising how quickly one can build up a comprehensive list of the UK foods one uses. Just takes patience to log in all the details on the back of the packets & tins. Iconsole myself by thinking that if I am busy doing that I am NOT snacking!!

    Thank you Brian
And you are right we need each other through this difficult Journey. I promise you I will not drop out. I'm going to lose this weight. I'm tired of feeling like poo all the time.
And you better believe if I need a pep talk I'm coming to you. And I hope you will do the same.

Also I'm taking this weight loss 1 pound at a time. I didn't gain this weight overnight and I'm not going to lose it overnight. We can do this! Let's go team! emoticon

Thank you for the message Brian and great that you are there for members who need support and friendship. For those who leave or 'disappear' because their friends on SP were somehow not there for them will find a lot of support and help from this.

There will be many who will have other reasons for no longer logging on or keeping in touch and we can only wish the best for them and that they are doing well wherever - virtually or otherwise!

I would like to add you as a friend in support of your blog!

I definitely understand that! I suppose I get a little frustrated and sad when I have members add me as a friend, or I add them, and then they "disappear". I know sometimes schedules get hectic and such, but I feel helpless if they have a concern or struggle, and there's something I can do to help.
That's what friends are for! BTW, thanks for being my sparked friend!

What a great message, Brian. I'm going to point some of my friends at this too, for your words of wisdom. I agree with you - it's so sad when people lose heart and drop out, when they could maybe just ask somebody for some help or advice and get over the hurdle. emoticon

This site is very comprehensive and I suppose that makes it complicated to use at first, especially for computer novices. And especially for UK users, who have a whole new problem with the Nutrition Tracker - the suggested meal plans are pretty much useless for us, as we can't get half the stuff - and don't know what the other half is, LOL! emoticon

Anyway, I am very proud to have you as a SparkFriend - and a genuine friend at that.
