7AM Spin Class, Circuit training class,
it's the best class I'm attending right now
and it's with an instructor named Indiana
who pushed me to my limit this morning.
She enjoys it way too much
as she urges me on,
"Come on, girl, you can do it,
one more minute, come on!"

Began on the step bench,
high intensity,
bringing knees up
corner to corner,
working my arms overhead.
I was "present,"
I wanted to work out,
I wanted to burn calories.

To the bike,
find the beat,
right, left,
right, left,
give me 5 degrees,
increase the resistance,
push with your heels
hold your abs in
breathe!

She hands me an 8# weight
I'm still pedaling, still on the bike
Tricep work, I sit up taller
elbows pointing to sky
2 sets of 10, she's counting for me

Sip of water, back to the step bench
V steps, and then she hands me my
15# body bar and we're bending over
bar to ankles, upward to chest,
straightening to stand up, bringing that
bar through into an upward row
and back down,
she wants twenty more,

back to the bike, shoving feet into strapped pedals
and I'm going up the mountain
hands at a V
resistance up
she tells me we're gonna stand up
find the beat,
hold in your abs
stick out your gluts
push with your heels
8 counts touching the seat
8 counts standing back up
again and again
she hands me the weight
tricep work again

The sweat's drippin' off me
running down my nose
and I'm breathin,
and pushing myself
and she's pushing me on
The music's pushing me.

More body bar work,
more step box work,
resistance band,
walking sideways across the fitness room
stepping with the band,
my adductors are screamin'
and I've gotta switch sides and make it back

to the bike
to find the beat,
right, left,
right, left,
push with your heels
hold your abs in
pushing through to your limit,
past my limit,
the music,
just 40 more seconds,
come on, girl, you can do it
you know you want to

sip of water
down on the mat
reverse ab crunches,
arms over head,
holding the front of the bike
and then ab crunching up
with a ball held tight
between my knees,
and she's right there in front of me
she's holding my legs
and I'm working my abs
slow and intense
and she wants another set of 10
over the top, my limit,
come on,
one more,
almost there
and you're done!

Stretching out,
she's enjoying this way too much
as I thank her for "killin' me"
this morning, with intensity
it's what I'm lookin' for
as I crave more water,
towel wiping the sweat off my face,
cleaning off the bike
planning, showering, planning
when, oh when, can I make it in
to do it again?
