How to come back after being sick?

For the past few weeks, I've been snowed under by a respiratory virus that turned into bronchitis. I've tried to keep up with some excercise, but I can't do nearly the same level of intensity as I had built up to. I'm feeling a bit frustrated, and wondering if others have experienced the disappointment of getting derailed after finally getting to a place where you felt fit and strong. I'm so nervous that it will feel like I'm starting all over again when I can finally exercise with the intensity I did before I was sick. Did anyone ever go through this? Does it take seemingly forever to start feeling healthy and strong again?
