Job interview, Woot!

I am so excited! I have my first job interview! It's only for a stocking job at Walmart, but still, I am so nervous. I have no idea what to expect. Do I need to bring anything besides myself? Ack, I know I am being ridiculous, but that doesn't stop me from worrying that I will make a complete fool of myself. I really want a job. I have been working my whole life for my family with no pay, sure, I had the necessities paid for, but no satisfaction from using money I earned to pay my own way. I know that some wouldn't understand why it is important to me, I don't really understand the whole reasons behind it either, but that doesn't stop it from being so. Even if I don't get the job, this will be a learning experience, so in the future, I will do better.

    The interview went well, I think. I was told they would call me and let me know if I got the job. I haven't heard back from them yet, so I have no idea if I got the job or not. It certainly was an experience! Now I have a better idea of what to do in any future interviews anyway.

    Sorry I've taken a little while in commenting on this blog. I'm hoping that you got the job, if not there will be another along before you know it.

    Having your own money to do with what you want is important, it's empowering and gives you a sense of self. It doesn't matter if it's only stocking it's good honest work and that's all that is important.

    I just know things will work out if not today, there is always tomorrow.

    Good Luck to you! I had two interviews (first and second) at Walmart and a job offer (that is the third interview). Be yourself! Three people interview you so it does kind of make you nervous (and for me they were different people each time). You will do well though. Just be honest and be yourself. Share what you are good at and I think they are looking for thoughtful answers to some of the questions. Be willing to admit that you don't know something, but are willing to learn, and share what you may know that would apply to the situation.

    I agree with GRANDMASAM - no slouching, and be warm and friendly. Look people in the eyes and shake hands firmly like WAGYSGIRL suggested.

    I didn't end up taking that job with Walmart, because the commute was too great for the pay and the hours. I am glad that I didn't take the job because I ended up with a job that has better hours and is only a couple of miles down the road.

    Good luck I hope you get the job. But if not, that's OK too. Getting a job at this time is very difficult as there are so many looking for work. Keep positive and the best of luck to you. emoticon

    Take a positive attitude and honest answers.
    Be sure to wear a smile, but use it only at appropriate times.
    Stand with good posture; no slouching!

    The skills we have been using can be transferred, whether from home to office or construction lot to restaurant! So don't think that you don't have skills to offer when you go on that interview. :) Think of what you are good at ... and understand that this is a SKILL... and probably represents a quality that is sought by future employers.

    What is interesting is that most of us have many skills that we simply don't realize ARE skills.

    Good luck on this interview!! It's surely the beginning of self-discovery!
