Does anyone feel the way I do?

It is funny how we people are, when it relates to ourselves. I know perfectly well how to handle exercise, and nutrition; however do I practice what I know...NO! I need a buddy to help me stay honest with myself. I have had the fortunate or unfortunate lot in life, which ever way someone wants to look at it, to marry or live with skinny people and they have no problem staying skinny. Me that is another story, sad to say that I have taken in their nutrition which makes me fat and unhealthy.

My husband of 36 years could eat ice cream and pasta's daily and never gain a pound. He did not even exercise beyond playing golf. He did not get fat.

My daughter, the body builder, can eat pasta every day with lots of cheese, sour cream and butter on it and never gain a pound. She hates most vegetables, and eats ice Cream daily.
She doesn't exercise any more. She is in law enforcement and does have to be able to qualify with weight lifting, running etc. Occasionally. She wears a size 0 to 3 in clothing.

Now I live with her.

I am a diabetic and since moving in with her I have not been able to get my diabetes under control.

I was swimming six days a week however I did not see any improvement after three months.
So I quit. Besides seeing no improvement I got tired of going alone.

I just need someone to talk to that I can encourage and they can encourage me to keep on keeping on. emoticon

Thank you everyone for the encouragement.

I am in the middle of trying to get more in control, however it is with having to take six injections daily. Of course my body hates it and is up and down like a yo yo. I know that once I get diet, exercise and medications balanced I will not have as sever of problems. (At least on a daily basis.) emoticon emoticon

Rean1965 is right. Just because you are thin does not mean you are healthy. Don't get discouraged.... you can do it if you put your mind too it! Their are always people here at Sparkpeople that will be here for you when you are having a bad day or week. We have gone through some of the same things with our weight and health issues as you and we can support you through your journey! emoticon

It is hard. My family is pretty much like me nice and round. Ugh. But I have worked in gyms and have a lot of personal trainer friends. They eat whatever the want. There is no answer for why it is easy for other people and hard for us.

Please get your diabetes in check. If you enjoy swimming go back to it. Join a Rec Center that has a swim aerobics class that way you are not alone. Working out by myself is the hardest thing. I have to have my music if not I cant do it. All in my head.

Maybe since you are living with your daughter ask her for some help. Especially with the diabetes. It is hard to stay away from food if it is in the house. I have my own cupboard. I still slip up of course. But I check my stuff first. I mess up on my way home from work. Most of the time.

Remember this is for yourself. Noone else. You need to be healthy for you. emoticon
