Back on track and life is good

I have been on Spark People most every day, lurking in the shadows and reading other people's posts. Last week I found the tread about getting back on track. To find so many people struggling to get on track, constantly working to stay there, picking themselves up and dusting themselves off - I decided I could do it too. If I seriously want to lose weight, I have to be more serious in my efforts.
We did a 7,600 mile road trip in 15 days in August to attend a family reunion in Santa Cruz, CA, and then east to visit Ivy League colleges Michael is interested in applying to. So, we literally drove from coast-to-coast and back again to eastern Washington. Whew!! A lot of time in the car and a lot of restaurant foods. DH and I often split an entree, but I wasn't tracking or exercising, so I gained weight. Big surprise!
It took me over a month to get back on track, but I did it. Even better, I lost 6 pounds this past week! I knew my jeans were fitting loser today than they did last Friday and the scale confirmed why.
I have consistently been walking twice a day with our dogs, just not logging it or paying attention to stretching out after getting home until this week. I have also started to jog part of the morning walks 3X/week. Many years ago, I was running over 3 miles every day and the weight melted away. I'd like to be able to get back to that. Both of our dogs could stand to lose some weight, too.
To make my week even better (did you think it could get any better?!?), I had a one year follow-up MRI done on Saturday morning and got the test results on Wednesday. NO NEW TUMOR GROWTH!! Everything looks as it should, considering surgical scarring.
Life is good and I am blessed. To top it off, today is my 21st wedding anniversary. It doesn't get much better.
