I need a holiday...

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

So after missing out already on the lovely all-inclusive break in the Austrian mountains I had spotted a delightful German 4* with spa and 5 course dinner...and only 90 minutes from us.

Sounds good we both said.

So I booked it...well I *thought* I booked it, but when the confirmation came through it was the wrong hotel...and no way at the time (too late) to change/cancel.

So this morning I called...and called and called again.

It took 45 minutes for my call to be answered.

Then I got cut off and to cut it short, by the time I spoke to someone again my booking had been cancelled and we had been booked to a random hotel I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE!

And the hotel I wanted was fully booked.

So everything is cancelled now and I don;t have the energy (nor the money) to find anything else/better because Swiss-land is NOT the land of cheap last minute deals (unless you know something I don't).

I have a big knot in my throat because I ROYALLY messed up and this was going to be our first 'not family or friends' break in OVER 2 YEARS.

I need away time, and I need warm water with bubbles as we definitely can't afford warm climates right now.

Is it wrong that my MAIN DRIVE to get a job is so that I can go on holiday?

Already in a bad mood and it is not even 10 AM... RESULT !!

Sometimes we need to get all those things out of us and it is very okay to feel the way you do. Keeping my fingers crossed here that not all is lost and you are still able to have that much needed time and you find you smile there.

I work so I can take vacations and retire, the bills are important but not the main reason for me plugging away. Keep going. Sorry about all your frustrations, enjoy the countryside and go for walks and rides someplace you have never been before. Good luck. Star emoticon

Sorry about all the frustrations. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be and a better holiday opportunity will come up?

It is okay to be upset. You made an error that got way out of control and got larger through in ways that were out of your control. I feel your frustration. However, it is not wrong to want to find a job so that you can take a holiday. After my last holiday I started planning my next one, even though I really like my job. We all need that time away from our regular lives to refresh ourselves and feel energized. Trying to find a job is incredibly stressful and not very rewarding, so please do not downplay that impact on your life. I'm sure a new opportunity will come along soon, but until then, we are all here to listen to you vent your frustrations.

No, it is not wrong to wrong to want or need a break! But sometimes, things get out of our control and we can't fix it. No easy answers but at least you expressed your disappointment and frustration. It will only give you more stress to keep it bottled inside. Maybe something else
will come along. Please take care!
