You can't learn how to bake a cake, unless you bake a cake.

Sunday, September 20, 2009

I come to spark everyday and read blogs the good, the bad, the ugly and I make comments. This helps me to stay engaged....however my success is not so great so I don't like to blog unless it is something positive. When I don't have anything positive I tend to shy away from blogging. When I have a weight gain or have not be excising I stay on the fringes. However hiding does no good...staying on the sidelines does no good. You can read a recipe inside and out...you can watch a how to video on how to make the cake but until you actually get out the bowl and turn the oven on you will not fully experience success. The first cake maybe uncooked, the second cake may be overcooked.....but eventually you will have some success. All that being said, I am going to try to blog whether I a doing good or bad, whether I a exercising on not, or whether I am losing weight or not!!! The stock market has highs and lows and sOO will I. You really don't know how long the low will last but it will pass!

I had started walking trying to achieve 5,000 steps and my pedometer was not the greatest. I was going to buy some exercise video's and my video player BROKE and I have to by a new player 1st. All those things made me discouraged. So I will try to blog and it might be good, bad, or just plain ugly...but I will try to be consistent.

Thanks for your thoughts on this topic, I too feel like I need to do blogs that are "polished", I really don't like reading blogs, for instance that say something like,"It's cold outside". Maybe a happy medium.

Good idea Walnut. I didn't blog a lot when I started, and I wish I did (didn't have the brainpower and no self-esteem from lack of said brainpower!). You can see how far you've grown. (I liked your analogy, but cake? lol "No cake for me!" said in the tone of the Soup Nazi - lol.)

Get out the car and measure off a mile or some distance you can measure and start countin' ... walk til you can't, then next day you'll find you can walk some more! Just keep at it and good luck.

Thats right ... you dont know how long the lows will last but if you blog about your low someone might have something to say that motivates you or helps you in some way. We are all here for each other and we are all going to do this!!! Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can.

We are all uncomfortable with blogging and how it might be received, Sometimes I just have nothing to say so I don't blog on a regular basis, but I'm always thinking of what to put in a blog.

It’s good to blog. It can motivate you, inspire you or be a way to get the support you need. I only do it about once a week but intend to do it more often now that I have a two month plan.

    Hmmmm...food for thought.

Good for you. Life is about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Blogging about the whole picture helps me remember that I'm not perfect. I will have my ups and downs, but if I keep looking forward and not focus on the backward, I will go forward even if its baby steps. Keep up the good work! You WILL be rewarded!

I feel just like you in blogging only about my successes, but the truth is I learn just as much from reading about other people's struggles.

When you blog about your weaknesses you learn how others deal with the same things. It can really help.

Blog away, it really helps to let our feelings and fears, desires, random thoughts. You will be amazed at what you can learn by just sitting down and typing. I should know, today's blog that you commented on was very insightful and not at all what I expected to see when I was done.

Welcome to the supportive side of SparkPeople!

I know exactly how you feel because that's my issue with the weight tracker. I didn't want to track unless I lost and so far it hasn't moved in a few weeks. But then I thought that I am only cheating myself because I know how much I weigh even if no one else does. Making something public makes us want to do something about it (at least it does for me).

So I am hoping and the wishing the best and I'm here for you during the highs, lows, good, bad, and ugly.
