Ode to some handsome Marines!

Saturday, September 19, 2009

I had an excellent day today at the 2009 Marine Mud Run! I haven't been training long enough to run it but I have been a volunteer at the event in Salem, Va. for several years. My annual tradition is to have my pic taken with any Marines that I can get together. This year they had a display of all sorts of different guns and I managed to sneak over and get my pic taken. The guys this year were great, very polite (quite attractive I must say- hey I don't get out much, give me this little bit of pleasure!)
I felt better having my pic taken since I have lost some weight. I still have quite a bit to go but I had a good feeling today. I managed to get my exercise in before and after the event. I even organized some of my basement area and finished off Stephen King's The Stand on DVD while I walked on the treadmill. Also four loads of clothes done and I am worn out!
I have put the Mud Run on my bucket list... It may take some time before I'm ready but I'll enjoy the journey!

My husband was (still is... right?) in the Marine Corps for 7 years... and I do have to say they are a handsome bunch! And always polite (when ladies are around at least!) Although the pic is small (I will have to go and make it larger to get the full effect) it looks like a great time! And a great day to you!!!!!

My son is a Marine. He would love a mud run. Aren't they so handsome!!! He walked me down the aisle in his dress blues. Made me cry! Good for you setting a goal to run it.
