1,000 miles on the bike so far!

Friday, September 18, 2009

Hey all!

All day today I've been thinking about the fact that I'll get to ride my bike on a Friday night. Usually I have my daughter with me. But even more exciting is that I would probably hit my 1,000 mile mark for the season tonight!

I got on all my gear. (I need to find my gloves. It's been in the 60's lately!) And I grabbed my camera. I thought it would be fun to take a picture at the 1,000 mile mark. I checked the odometer...

It was already at 1008! Dang! I hit it last night and didn't even realize!

Oh well. I hit my 1,000 mile mark, and it felt pretty good to get there. One thousand miles! The two years before this, I'd only gone 305 miles combined.

I wish I remembered what day I started, but somewhere in April or May I suppose. I'm pretty pleased that I've done it, and kinda surprised. It seems like such a big number. I know real bikers put that number to shame, but for a shlub like me, so inactive at the beginning of this year, with my 'comfort bike', it's pretty good.

In other news, I walked at least 2 miles every day this week at lunch. Whoda thought I'd be all sweaty at the end of a walk? Kudos to you walkers.

Hope you all are well.

    WOW, look at ya go!

I'm out of the loop for just a few days and you go crazy, in a good way. Kudos to you for breaking that 1,000 mile barrier. Kind of like breaking the sound barrier. I'll bet you broke some sound barriers too, when you realized you missed it the day before, LOL

Keep up your great efforts Albert.

Sorry that I'm so late for the party, I've just been busy, nothing major

Have a wonderful weekend and an even better upcoming week

Congratulations on the 1000 miles!! Backtrack 8 miles from where you left off and take a photo. I think your photo idea is fabulous.

Keep up the great work and the great attitude. It is contagious.

Good for you! I am envious of your, I am a walker by choice. I agree that you should go back to where that 1000th mile was and take that picture. It will make a good story that you were so intent on your biking that you actually went past that 1000th mile and did not realize it! Do you have another milestone goal? emoticon

"REAL BIKERS?" "SHLUB?" kinda sorta wish there was a "bitch slap you with kindness into claiming the reality of your fitness magnitude dude" SP EMOticon.

Agree with GIRLHALFFULL, you should make a memory mile marker moment etched in sweat and fortitude.

    Major Miles Dude! emoticon emoticon

Congrats.... but I'm thinking you need to back track last nights journey and and take that re-enact that 1000 mile marker moment.

The moment should be remembered. Bike on... bike on!

Albert you rock! That is an awesome achievement!! What is an average ride for you? 20- 25 miles or more? Walking has been my exercise of choice so far. We have a huge park about a mile from our house and it has a 2 mile paved path that goes around all the ball and soccer fields and flanks some woods where occaisionally live armadillos wander out (when you see them in Texas they are usually dead, so it is important to note when you see a live one!). What kind of bike do you ride. Is it a mountain bike or a race bike? Do you do any virtual rides? Keep up the good work!
