Chutes and Ladders

The black hole is still out there, but I've pulled myself out of it a little bit - bit by bit. It's amazing how easy it is to forget about the goals we have and fall back into old patterns. They are so deeply ingrained in my brain and my life that they are the norm, and these new healthy habits are the exception. I know intellectually that change does not happen over night, that I am going to face these challenges continually, and that I have to learn new ways to adapt. One person compared this journey to the game of Chutes and Ladders, and I think that is so perfect. You spin - you climb that ladder, and then by a twist of fate you hit that chute and slide back down. But like in the game in life you just have to keep spinning and climbing - you might not be the ultimate winner but you can still finish.
