Chutes and Ladders

The black hole is still out there, but I've pulled myself out of it a little bit - bit by bit. It's amazing how easy it is to forget about the goals we have and fall back into old patterns. They are so deeply ingrained in my brain and my life that they are the norm, and these new healthy habits are the exception. I know intellectually that change does not happen over night, that I am going to face these challenges continually, and that I have to learn new ways to adapt. One person compared this journey to the game of Chutes and Ladders, and I think that is so perfect. You spin - you climb that ladder, and then by a twist of fate you hit that chute and slide back down. But like in the game in life you just have to keep spinning and climbing - you might not be the ultimate winner but you can still finish.

    So true, but it is more important to keep on keeping on then to go backwards, we all hit pot holes and I know you can do it.

    I hear you! I've had ups and downs and chutes and ladders this week, too. Thanks for writing so eloquently about an issue we are all facing, and best of luck settling back into the new healthier habits instead of reverting to the old ones.

    You are very right - this is something that we have to continually work on, bit by bit. It's a lifetime committment. But, it does get easier. You will build new habits, and learn from your mistakes. It's all a learning process! You can do it! =)
