The BodyBugg, Chalene Johnson & Assessing Relationships... A Paradox...

Thursday, September 17, 2009

I ordered the BodyBugg on the 15th & it is already due to arrive here some time today!! I am so excited to see what all the hype is about... I have friended Chalene Johnson (Turbo Jam) on Facebook because she is so motivational in her daily status updates. She has contests and SO MUCH great advice. She also promotes the BB so I took advantage of her $15 discount and took the plunge :)

There is a monthly fee (of about $10) but with your initial purchase, you get 6 months for free. I have heard so many wonderful stories of success from using the BB so I am confident that this will help me very much.

One important piece of advice that Chalene gives, which I have been pondering all day, is to pay close attention to the relationships you have in your life - family, friends & aquointences... are they healthy relationships? Are they loving, positive & happy?

She advises that like attracts like... are the people who surround you like you? I want them to be ~ I want to be surrounded by those who lift me up as much as I want to lift them up... but I am sad to say that not everyone in my social circle does.

I have always been an advocate of disolving unhealthy, toxic friendships & have no problem with letting these people go. I do, however, have a current hangup with social networks and (dare I say) Spark People. A dillema really... of some people who have a consistant negative attitude, always complaining, never learning from their mistakes & just always bringing the "room" down.

This is so unhealthy to be around. I understand that a support group such as this, is a tool for those in a rut to receive help from thse who relate, but I do not believe in enabling those who cannot stand up and acknowledge all the GOOD things others are doing. I try to use my social networking as a positive learning tool, NOT a place to unload all of my problems or whine excessively. Misery loves company... and I don't want to be in a room full of miserable people anywhere in my life.

So what do you do in a social network of people whom you've grown close to while on a certain journey, but one rotton apple continues to sour your day?

By letting them go, it will most defenately hurt their feelings & perhaps lower their confidence. But continuing to have ties with these people will keep me in that box I don't want to be in. I would love to hear your opinions...
