Well, the summer is over...

LOL! I spent the Labor Day weekend watching it rain, hearing about tornadoes touching down in Enumclaw, and listening to the sounds of my upstairs bathroom floor getting torn out. All in all, not bad! I finished one book and got halfway through another. Did absolutely NO exercise, didn't bother cleaning (why, when the handyman was tracking so much through the house), and pretty much just hung around the house all weekend. This is life when my son is visiting his dad - I just shut down and take some "me" time to the max.

I did get basics done - laundry, cooking meals for the week, prepping veggies and snacks. But mostly, I just sat and read...and I LOVED it! My body just needed a break for exercise, expectations, etc. I even ate a small piece of really good chocolate cheesecake! No guilt, just enjoyment.

Today, it was back to the grind - walks at lunch, putting out fires at the office, meetings, cooking dinner, and just generally life in general. Just getting back into the groove and enjoying the fact that when I did walk today, I even added a few quick sprints and I felt like next time, I can still push myself harder. So even taking a break, my body didn't suddenly forget everything I've been working towards. YAY! The most amazing part was that while walking, part of my brain was saying weird things like "hey, maybe I can start jogging." NNNOOOOOO....anything but JOGGING!

I can see it a year I'll be jumping for joy about jogging 3 or 4 miles - I shudder just thinking about it. Sorry - I'm still recovering from Junior High and jogging around that track (yes, that was a LONG time ago...but we all know that those are the years that affect us so deeply). Ah well...I can't help it - if my body requests a harder workout, who am I to say yeah, I guess I can see myself jogging by next summer. I do, after all, believe in miracles!

Have a great week!
