Amazing Reunion Weekend!
Tuesday, September 08, 2009
Twenty years ago, I moved from Detroit to Orlando Florida, on my own. I had a very fun job at a very fun place, and worked with hundreds of amazing, talented people. It felt like showbiz. Everyone was young, trying to make it into the big time. We were allowed to be silly, and the parties were constant. It was a very comfortable place to be in for me. The pay was lousy, but it was probably the best time in my young adult life. Eventually, family called me back to Detroit. I've never worked with another group so fun, so crazy.
Someone got the bright idea to have a big reunion. It was all volunteer, and they did a great job. I spent the weekend at some country club, hanging out with my old peeps, more comfortable than I've been in a long long time. Scores of my old friends were there.
The weekend was over in a heartbeat. But I was in a great mental place, and I'm still emotionally very high. Plenty of love, plenty of laughs. (Plenty of booze!) It was just long enough to enjoy everyone, and not long enough for the old cliques to fall back into place. I am SO GLAD I chose to go. It was the most fun I've had in a long long time.
More details to follow, but here's some pics.
