Feeling Blue

Saturday, September 05, 2009

Yesterday I went over-calorie, with the result that I gained two pounds. Although I hated to see that, what really bothers me is that the reason I went over calorie was that I was feeling bored and depressed, so I used food as a comfort. That's how I got into this mess, and I'm afraid that I'm starting to let bad habits get started again. Oh well, today's a new day. It's been raining, so I may not be able to take my walk today. But Hey, I'm an Oregonian! We don't let a little thing like rain stop us from doing what we want! I think I'll try a new healthy recipe. Anybody out there got any suggestions?

Linda honey please don't let this get to you. Remember that your weight goes up and down from day to day and hour to hour. If you drink a ton of water your going to weigh more also. You do not gain fat overnight. The weight you put on was because you still had yesterdays meal in you. Please don't let this get to you.

Go for a walk and browse the spark recipes that will bring you out of your funk. Your strong and you have come so far this to shall pass.

I'm sorry to hear you were feeling down yesterday. It's so easy to slide back into those old bad habits, isn't it? I try to find something to do-read a good book, work a crossword puzzle or go for a walk, whatever works for you. Spark has lots of great recipes, I never know which one to choose! I hope you are feeling better today. If it's still raining, put on some music that you love and dance around the house. It will put a smile on your face emoticon . Have a great weekend! Kim

    Hi ya Linda!
Sorry you are feeling down in the dumps today. I'm getting ready to head out for my morning walk as well along the clackamas river. Beautiful walks in the rain can do the soul a world of good especially right here in Oregon. Hope yous tart feeling better really soon.

As for a recipe... How aobut going to Spark Recipes and type in oven baked brown rice and do the first one. this is what i made the other day and i loved it. perfect brown rice for me. I did some stir fry veggies like bell peppers and red peppers, onions and brocoli and added a few chicken strips I buy in a alrge bag from Cosco that are actually already cooked I put them in lastly just to warm em and served that on the rice. Yummmm that was a healthy lunch!

First off -- sorry you're feeling blue and yes..its soooo easy to slip back into that old pattern...bored, sad, angry, moody -- hmmm I THINK I"LL HAVE SOMETHING TO EAT....yep that's the hard part of this journey Linda as you know so coming up with ideas to overcome that can be tough....I tell people to go to the motivational articles on SP...or the ones that talk about emotions...sometimes that's just enough to 'get you past' that moment...and if it doesn't then ok have something to eat...but make it a CONSCIOUS choice...not just grazing here and there! Now if I sound like I"ve 'got it all together' well the answer to that is NO...we all struggle somedays more than others but my mantra thru this whole thing has been -- just try to have more good days than bad...and then chain them together...perhaps our TRI team challenge will help you! I see you'er on the YELLOW team - go yellowjackets -- have you checked in with your podcaptain yet and cut and paste your template -- weigh in day is TUESDAY and we have to post our weights that day ....and check GET READY!! (and I DO hope you feel better today!)
