Resetting my goal

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

When I started Spark 17 months ago I wanted to be at my ideal weight by now. I made some progress but my goal was not met - in fact I am only half way to where I want to be. I stubbornly refused to reset my goal accomplishment date though - who knows sometimes we do stupid things for no good reason.

Yesterday I went in and recalculated my goal date to be my birthday next year. This would have me losing just over 1 pound a week. Doing this changed my calorie requirements from a 1250 - 1500 to 1600 - 2000. I am not sure if I feel comfortable upping my calories (even though I don't always meet the lower target range. Who knows maybe I do need to increase the calories but make them higher quality.

The eating can be a struggle but my real issue is consistency of eating and exercise together.

"It will work, I will get to my goal" - are those positive enough thoughts? I just need to keep saying them over and over and getting myself in gear.

The great news is that even though nervous about the calorie range I am very excited to be back on track with blogging, recording my nutrition and drinking the water. Baby step by baby step. "It will work, I will get to my goal".

You can do it! Getting your mind wrapped around the journey is so much of this. I would be a bit nervous about changing that calorie goal as well. I would try it but if you notice the #'s growing I think I'd drop it back down and then miss the target off and on at a lower goal. Does that make sense? Anyway...GOOD JOB on resetting your goals!

You have made incredible progress and not going backward (ie maintaining significant weight loss is also progress - think of all the months and years it took to put it on). I am happy you reset your goals and maybe focus on short term goals will help? I can't think past about 15lbs or I get unhappy with myself. But if I think "would I rather be where I am now and trying to improve or be where I was at the start, it is an easy choice." You are where I want to be several months from now, think of all of the people you are inspiring, smile and walk on girl!

Remember to stay positive. Words are powerful when spoken. I have to keep remembering this. Focus on God and not on the weightloss and the weight will come off. I'm here for you when you need me. I would love to see you come share mmore on the Lymmphedemma team.
