Today I Sing the Praises of My Comfy Chair

Dinners been made for the family and the beasts. Everything is prepped for a new day tomorrow. Yes, I'm one of those people who lays out their clothes for the next day. I do it for the kiddo too. It just saves me from having to process information in the mornings and try to make a decision. And now that all my evening chores are complete, I really should get a workout in...except I'm not going to. I'm going to sit.

Ahhhhh it feels so good to just sit this evening. I'm feeling better than I was yesterday, but still not 100% so I'm taking today off. Tomorrow is a new month and I plan to start working out in the morning, I'm starting with something low-key and in-home, like Pilates or Yoga. Anything I do in the evenings will be gravy. I can also feel free to not do anything at all if I so choose. Then I can feel all decadent and lazy without actually sabotaging myself.

The act of resting on my butt is one of pure self-indulgence that I really need to partake in more often. My favorite chair is one I bought at a thrift store for $7.95, (yes that's right less than 8 bucks!!!) and it is by far the best chair in the world. So hideous it must be covered by a blanket at all times and probably about 40 years old; I won't allow it into my real living room with the pretty furniture. I'm concerned it's so ugly that it may convince my other furniture to convert. Despite its humble beginnings in my life, and its relegation to the garage, I love to just sit in this chair with my laptop, my coffee and my dogs slumbering around me.

I agree- finding that 'parfait' piece of furniture is comfort nirvana- finding the time to enjoy it is harder, some days.... I have the most comfortable sofa in the world, but it cost me two months wages back in 1981- It's so tatty it needs permanent covers and its foam construction guarantees no professional upholsterer will touch it, but I love it all the same. :)
