Suprise opportunities!

Today had some great surprise opportunities for exercise - first was my son's soccer lesson. It was parents day and initially, JP said he didn't want me in there, but the coach had all the kids call in all the parents, so I was able to play soccer with him - had a good sweat built up by the end of class! It was great fun to play bulldogs and puppies or space aliens with soccer balls. Unfortunately, I didn't wear the best shoes, otherwise I know I could have gotten an even better workout.

Then another opportunity arose when my son's godparents came for a visit and we took a walk to the local school to play baseball - about 40 minutes just for the walking there and back again, plus an extra walk around the block to show them the neighborhood (and there's a hill between each block, so lots of up and down time as well), then about 20 minutes of baseball at the school. My son is a sports fanatic, which is one of the main reasons I'm on Spark People - to be able to keep up with him!! He's only 4, but is starting to outpace me on many levels and I needed to find a way to up my stamina to keep up with him as he grows. Oh, I know he'll eventually surpass me, but at least I can put up a good effort keeping up with him!!

Eating today has been rocky - not in a bad way, just hard to sit down and eat a meal. I've done really well stocking the cupboards and fridge so that when I'm hungry but not ready to cook, I can throw together a reasonably healthy meal without resorting to frozen or processed. Unfortunately, I haven't finished prepping my vegetables after grocery shopping today, so my daily intake of veggies is pretty dismal. Tomorrow will be a different story - not only will I be prepping all my veggies for the week, but I'm making ratatouille too! YUM! One of my favorite dishes to make and so versatile to add to for variety during the week. So this week I'll have that plus leftover lentil chili and black bean burritos, so I think my meals will be pretty much on track for the week.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! The weather here cleared up nicely after last night's refreshing rain, the sun came out this afternoon and it looks like it's going to be another beautiful week!

God bless and remember to Spread the Spark!
