Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

After much internet research and with the help of some people from the "Going INSANE with Insanity" SparkTeam, I have purchased my very first heart rate monitor. I got the Polar F6.

I had a workout scheduled for this evening, so after work I rushed over to Sport's Authority and picked one up. The only color they had was pink, but it's okay, pink is cool. I only had a little while to learn it before I jumped into the workout.

Tonight was Max Plyometric Circuit and it was tough! I could barely keep up and I know that I will be feeling it tomorrow. I thought I would share the numbers from my HRM here.

Duration: 55min 1sec
Calories: 540 (30% Fat) not sure what the fat part is but that's what it says
Max HR: 186
Avg. HR: 165

There was another section called Exe Time In Zone 135-154 which was 10min 52sec. Not sure what that is for. My guess is that it the heart rate zone I'm supposed to be working out in and it was set automatically. Honestly though, I could not keep my heart rate in that area. I mean after the warm up I was already in the 160's. I think I just have a high heart rate to begin with.

But we shall see, as the journey goes on I will learn more about heart rate monitors and staying in the zone. Till next time....

I have the Polar F4. I've had one for years and I love it. Polar is supposidly doing away with the F4 (its a plain Jane model) and replacing it with the F6. I'm a plain Jane type girl and I love my watch. The F6 is a bit prettier and more fashionable. They basically function the same. I guess I'll have to get an F6 eventually. Change is good, right? LOL! Enjoy your watch. Thanks for posting this.

I have really been wanting to get one of these, but the hubby thinks I should just work out and stop stressing. Let me know your thoughts, I do have a birthday coming up and I can choose what I want right???

I know nothing about heart rate monitors. Please blog more about these and put Heart Monitor in the title (like you did this time). That will call it to people's attention and we can learn with you, ok? Thanks!
