Gosh, I haven't blogged in a long time, but thanks to a BL challenge I'm on, this is a requirement and I thought it was a good time to get some things off my chest.

The above title came about back in May of this year. I went for my bi-annual doctors check up and two things hit me that made me re evaluate this journey I am on. One thing was the scary task of stepping on my doctors scale and had a MAJOR gain from my previous doctor's appointment. Secondly my blood test came back with a major spike in my cholesterol reading. I'd been very lucky with that cholesterol number up to that point (even when I weighed in the 360's). Due to my lack of motivation I was just going through the motions of a healthy lifestyle. A lifestyle I've been practicing for over two years, but for some reason I just threw out everything I've learned. I wasn't tracking my intake or my exercise, heck, I wasn't exercising nearly as much as I should have been. Moving my body consistently had always been my achilles heel in this journey.

Well quitting just wasn't an option, I had to make a plan that was doable. I had to make changes, I had to do things I wasn't willing to do in the past. I had to tell myself...

*****DON'T QUIT...RECOMMIT ! ! !*****

So three months later here's how I've done since my last 2 doctors appointments

BP, then 130/83...now 118/73
Cholesterol, then 221...now 186
Weight, then 291...now 274

The thing that I think made the biggest difference was upping my stength training regiment, but overall consistancy in the gym was the bases of my success.

So to fulfill my assignment for my team challenge my goal is to...

*****DON'T QUIT...RECOMMIT ! ! !*****

And I don't care if I have to RECOMMIT every single day, for the rest of my life.

I'm so glad I read this. My routine has been really messed up over the past week and I let it get out of hand. I'm vowing to recommit right now!

Thanks for telling me about this blog--I missed it somehow. OK, to be honest, I have been slipping in all ways--including spending my time on SP. A couple of quick posts here and there. A couple of exercise sessions a week (maybe) and ignoring what I have been putting in my mouth. Just like you said--going thru the motions of healthy living. I am stealing your mantra and adding it to my list: Don't Quit...Recommit! Eat to Live, NOT Live to Eat etc. Let's grab Di and get back on track!

    We will do this!

    I Love it! Don't Quit - Recommit.

That's really the trick ... recommit yourself every single day for the rest of your life. Recommit yourself to give yourself the time of your life.

    You rock! :-)

It's never too late to recommit! It was good to hear that you are not giving up on your way to a healthy lifestyle. I pretty much have to make a decision every morning to stick this out for the long haul...it's not easy but it's certainly worth it. Keep going!!!

Good on you, Mike! You're focusing on the right stuff. It's so hard to get stuck when you feel things are moving too slowly, to blame everyone and everything else, or to get the "poor me" thing going. Every person really has to take control and commit to a plan that works for him or her self--easy to say, not always so easy to do, but you're doing it!

A great slogan! No matter how many times we fall off the wagon (and we all do!), it's those who are able to keep getting back on who succeed at this quest for a healthy lifestyle.
