Someone said it, so it must be true

With the exception of the six days that I spent out of the country at the beginning of the month I have kept or even at time surpassed my fitness goals. I have also been aware of my nutrition goals and rarely have I strayed far from them. However, the scale was not aware of my dedication and refused to budge more than a fraction, if at all. All that changed over the last three days during which time I lost 3 pounds. Needless to say that I'm elated, however I was bursting with pride when someone mentioned to me that it looks as if I'm losing weight. YES!!!! I acknowledged her observation with a big cheesy grin. Someone said it, so it must be true. I was walking on air as I went down to the lobby to meet my friend for lunch. As we started to walk out of the building, another co-worker whom I had not seen since last Friday stopped me and asked if I had lost weight. I wanted to hug her but I was too busy jumping up and down like a kid who had to go to the bathroom. "See" I told my friend "she noticed." I know that 3 pounds does not merit notice, but the inches are obviously showing and people are noticing in spite of the scale. But even more important is the way I feel. I notice that I can step into my shorts without having to lean on the bed. I notice that I walk faster. I notice that getting off the bed in the morning no longer reminds me of the old car we had in Brooklyn that needed to warm up significantly before we were able to accelerate it. I notice that I stand taller and the pain in my left hip which my non-doctor friends diagnosed as my sciatica nerve, is gone. There's something to say about healthy eating and regular exercise, and you don't have to say it yourself, someone else will see you and say it to you, and it will be true. Here's to good health and beautiful bodies.
