Today is a slow day...

My son is not feeling well, so I'm staying at home. Not really inclined to exercise today either, knowing full well that I'll be doing a lot of walking tomorrow. A day of rest is a good thing. I did do my pilates this morning, I may do some cardio later, but I'm not pushing it. I've done a lot this week already.
I did, however, start looking at treadmills. My concern is that once the weather starts changing and the rain starts hitting, I'll have less desire to get outside and walk, or miss the windows when it's not raining. But getting a treadmill gives me no excuses (except, maybe, in power outages - all the reviews scoffed at manual treadmills). However, the cost is not realistic - I already live paycheck to paycheck, so saving up for a $600 treadmill (and that's at the low end) may not be feasible anytime soon. Yet, at the same time, it's another goal to work towards...like maybe for a Christmas present if I meet my mid-way weight loss goal of 30 lbs. But this would mean saving $175 a month for the next four months to be able to afford it (including tax). So I have to think about the feasibility of this goal, when at the same time, should I actually meet that goal, I'll need clothes because I don't know what, if anything, currently in my closet will fit me after I lose 30 pounds. Which also means that by next summer, I'll need a whole new wardrobe when I love all 60+ pounds! So the extra financial goal of a treadmill just may not be feasible. But who knows...I believe in making things happen, and if they don't, that's okay too!
Let's be honest, if I can lose 30 pounds by Christmas, it will mean I've found a way to keep the cardio and walking up even without a treadmill, so it's not necessarily a must have rather than a convenience that I can obviously live without. Hmmm...as I'm thinking, maybe the better option is simply to get myself a gym membership and use their treadmills - then I won't have to worry about the extra space (and if there's one thing I don't like, it's losing space in my house).
So...that's it then. Rather than getting a treadmill for myself, I'll get a gym membership. There's a local one that I can do monthly dues, one of my co-workers used to go there almost every day, so I can check with him for his opinion of the place. That just might do the trick. Also, I can do a drop-in for $10 anytime I want, so when it starts raining and I want to get that extra cardio in during the work day, I can drop in for lunch and not worry about the weather. The more I think about it, the better it sounds. Maybe the treadmill can be a reward after I've reached my goal (and bought the new wardrobe). In the long run, it will be cheaper than a gym membership and it's not like I can't do cardio and strength training at home. I just have to try different options and see what works best for ME.
