one heck of a rollercoaster ride!

Friday, August 21, 2009

I feel like I am on a rollercoaster going up and down, up and down... Yesterday was my oldest daughter's birthday, and we all got together. I ate appetizers, burgers, mac salad, cake, etc.... I didn't get my exercise in, and I feel horrible this morning, again!! I swear I only do blogs during my ups and during my downs, and this is a down day!! I will honestly try to get back on today, but tomorrow is my daughter's bachelorette, and I am joining them for dinner, so I know no matter what I say, I will be eating and drinking again!!
With so many functions coming up in the next month, it will be difficult and I want to hit that 30 lbs down mark...it ain't happening this week!!
Well at least I am still on here, so there is hope!!

Have a good day everyone!

I know the feeling Wendy. I've been at so many weddings and special events to mark my calendar up this whole year. The key to these things is to scope the room, figure out what is being prepared and stick to those things. If everything looks great, get a small teaser plate and add one to two bites of everything you want. It turns into a meal...no more than a meal and a half.

As far as drinks...I haven't managed to work that one out except after every drink, I drink a glass of water to flush out my body. The liquor nor the buzz has left but I make it a conscious effort to remember that if I am drinking liquor, I will not drink soda for two to three days or juice is restricted for two days. It's almost like my own balance/discipline per se, lol.

We're not perfect beings nor are we meant to be. Give it your best and on your not so strong days, just relax! Just remember to always find yourself back on track. Much love sis!

Good luck! You might want to try what I do that keeps me from eating at those kinds of parties... I drink my fiber [Metamucil] right before leaving and it fills me up. Or at least you might think about eating before you leave so you won't be too hungry and lose self control. It's hard, believe me I know. I usually sit FAR away from the food with my back towards it. Again, I say, "Good Luck"... think about the up day you will have when you succeed.

Wendy, celebrations are always hard to find a balance between the new healthy you and the I just wanna have fun you. You have the power to choose. Each day, every day. So you know that tonight will be a high calorie event. Eat lower cal foods during the day so you have the calories left for a little splurge. Exercise early, maybe even up the intensity a bit to help compensate.

You can do this and are worth the extra effort it takes to plan ahead. There is always hope. Even if it takes a little longer, enjoy the ride!

There is more than hope... you can choose. You do have the power and control.
My son just got married and I did go to the bachelorette. There were good choices to make and bad ones. I chose the good. So can you.
Even with all the festivities you still can be true to yourself and enjoy the fun.

    emoticon on the wedding.

You weren't alone yesterday, I dove right in and ate what ever I wanted, including a greasy burrito from our local grocery store and a WHOLE bag of microwave pop corn. I can feel it this morning, but I'm not going to beat myself up. Make good choices when you can, forget the bad ones, enjoy life, and especially time with your daughter.
