OMG! Swim Lesson Update!

Okay guys, I know some of you have been wondering about the swimming lesson, well here goes.
This evening, August 18, 2009 marks my second official swimming lesson. I must say I am comfortable in the water, you know I got the floating thing down both on my stomach and on my back, a piece of cake. But, check this out…….
It’s time to learn to kick, that was lesson number one, the instructor gave us (4 of us in the class) some pointers and we practice a little. He says my technique is good but I can’t understand why I’m not going very far. I guess that comes with practice, so I guess I’ll be spending a lot of time kicking in my sleep.
So now to today’s lesson, adding the arms, this thing is going to be harder than I expected. So I was concentrating so hard on the movements he said I was thinking about it too much, to mechanical. Okay, I got to fix that, in my attempt to fix it and try not to think about it so much I forgot to kick. What in the world, this is going to take some serious effort. I guess I’ll be in bed again practicing kicking and my arm movements.
The instructor says in the next lesson we will talk about breathing; well I know you have to kick your legs while moving your arms, but I don’t know how he expects me to breath too, that might be asking too much in 3 lessons.
Overall he says I’m doing a great job, I’m the only one in the class that can float really well so I’m really feeling good about it. I will heading to the health and wellness center in the morning to get in some practice so I’ll be more prepared for Thursday’s lesson. Wish me luck and I’ll keep you posted!
