Am I setting myself up?

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Yesterday was the first workday that I could cycle before work and go to a water class after work. My legs would barely move when I got home.
I got up this morning and cycled 30 minutes. I felt stiff all day. Only walked around the building at work 3 times.
My mom had to be moved to a different nursing home. We drove to see her then came home and ate dinner. I did the 7 minute upper body with resistance bands video. I started to do the lower body, but there is too much bending for my knees. I am learning to listen to them. I am thinking about jumping on the cycle again, but I think I will wait until in the morning. I will do some weights and call it a night.
My question is, am I setting myself up for failure? I am wanting to exercise more so that I will feel a lot better, but my knees are telling me to watch it. My bp is still too high (157/83 when I took it at work). I have decided to make a dr appointment. I will go on my birthday since I have already requested the day off.

I have had to tell myself to slow it down and listen to my body because when I over do it and the knees and back start aching I am unable to do anything. Just rest a little and listen to your body because some workout is better than no workout and if you over do it there maybe bigger problems in the end. I can sympathize with where you are although I don't have a high bp I am trying to fight type 2 diabetes and when I didn't listen to my body I was out of commission for about a week trying to recover...

Good luck and wishing you the best on your journey..."there is not such thing as failure as long as you don't quit"
