Intensity Boost

I am trying to boost the intensity of my workouts. When I started walking I walked at an average of 2.5 mph. I soon boosted that up to about 2.7.

Lately, I would say I walked between 2.8 & 3.2 mph.

I am having a hard time getting it higher than that. I am wondering if it could possibly be my stride. When I go any faster, I tend to want to job, not walk.

So, I have tried to add just a little bit of jogging into the middle of my walking.

I can only do this on days that my joints don't hurt.

When I do jog, I often feel like my chest is going to boing right off my body. This is often painful, and I often have to hold it still. (Times like that I am so thankful that I own a treadmill!)

I really really really want an elliptical machine!
