Baptize me in Gatorade... I am a SP convert.

Call me a convert, an enthusiast, a crazed fan. Is there some sort of bling for my sparkpage to show I've attained a higher level of spark enthusiasm? Perhaps a ceremony I can conduct via my laptop? I liked SP from the first day. It appeals to me on so many levels... but my initial affection has grown into a full-blown love affair. I am PASSIONATE about this website! ;)

I think I'm starting to understand the real power of SparkPeople... It's not just that it has helped me believe in myself:
- It's that I believe in the other people who gather here and are remaking themselves into healthier people.
- It's that these other people (virtual strangers!) believe in me too.
- It's that these other people believe in THEMSELVES too.

SparkPeople creates this big circle of positivity. Like a giant feedback loop that you plug into... and whether you like it or not, you get sucked into the collective faith and determination. THAT is what is different this time around for me.

When I falter, one of my spark friends has a GREAT day, inspiring me to pick my butt back up and keep trying. When I have a great day, there are people who actually give a hoot. When I have doubts, I just look around at the people who have done it, are doing it, and who BELIEVE.

I understand now why the last step is to "spread the spark." I rave about this site to my family and friends. They must think I am a madwoman. But when you find something this good, you WANT to share it! When are they coming out with SP-TV? A movie? A cult-like compound that I can move my family onto?

what a great blog:). i've just started to spread the spark. i just recruited my first friend to get "fired up," i'm hoping to bring in more. it has taken me a while to get comfortable talking about what i do on here.... because i think most people just hear weight-loss and exercise and are like, "oh... that's nice." but like you said, this is a community that is about so much more than just losing weight. so basically.... i just wanted to chime in on your bandwagon of enthusiasm. i'm hooked, too:).

This is the best website! I have never found so much great information and met supportive online friends before anywhere else. I know that this Sparkpeople is helping me slowly lose weight and I'm grateful for that! I wish my friends would listen to me! I also feel like a mad woman when I talk about sparkpeople...

yea! your blog posting put me back into positive-mode. you're right that it's a feedback loop - and when you start to go down again, you can be pumped up by other stories and comments. i find that reading all the positivity makes me feel pretty lame to stir negativity into the pot.

I think that might be taking things a little too far, but I applaud your enthusiasm.

I, too, am an SP bore, ahem! enthusiast, and talk about the website constantly. I have encouraged a couple of people to sign up and have plastered the noticeboards at work with SP fliers.

I am very grateful that I found the site, as I don't believe I'd have stuck it out so long or enjoyed such consistent success without the Nutrition Tracker and the support of my SparkFriends. I spend an inordinate amount of time on the site and get withdrawal symptoms if I don't log on several times a day, lol. I love reading other people's blogs and getting encouragement and praise from people who have come across my page for the first time.

Other online weight loss sites could learn a lot from SP, but I doubt they'll ever better it.

emoticon I absolutely agree! I'm still new to SP, less than a month in, but it has kept me motivated to keep with a program whereas I would usually give up on ANY routine I had in the past after a week or so.

This place is AMAZING! Such a loving community of like minded people who aren't here to judge you, but to help you while they help themselves. You can't get that kind of feeling anywhere else. (Especially not at the gym...where I feel like I'm being judged a lot.)

    LOL - you're really a hoot!

And not to disagree - but from everything I've seen in Spark - we're baptizing ourselves in PURE WATER - Sparkmembers are DROWNING in it!

PS - it's a great day - your blog helped make it so!!

I can't seem to stop talking about it either - probably because it's the first thing that's really worked, SUSTAINABLY, for me. I think my favorite thing is, I pick and choose the ways it works for me (yes to food and exercise tracking, e mails, blog posts, recipes, but no to structured menus and fitness routines that aren't practical for me) and there's such a FANTASTIC support system in our fellow Sparkies! Can I get in on the Gatorade baptism? As long as we're doing it with low-calorie G2, that is!

You have officially made me grin from ear to ear today - I was behind in your blogs for three days and look at you GO :) I've got to become friends with "thecoolestsarah" lol I totally believe in hugs too. (and i hated hugging in high school) I've hear that you need 12 hugs a day to thrive - so here are my virtual hugs! ((((HUG))))

Sara - I think that after today, you will be a lifer to SP like me :)

My sister-in-law actually asked me if I had to sign over my worldy goods to SP after yet another long winded joyous expounding of how great SP is. She also has asked me on numerous occasions if I was going to spend the rest of my life telling people how many calories SP said was in something. LOL

If this is a cult I'm happy to help recruit people.

ooh I really like the idea of a compound. It would have an organic garden, a very clean, friendly and non-threatening gym with 24 hrs of yoga, and lots of bikes that you can ride.. on a multi-level singletrack course, of course. And everyone would hug. And there would be water coolers at every corner. I'm such a friggin socialist! haha
