I'M BACK IN THE GROOVE WITH QUICKFIRE CHALLENGES & THE 6WD

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

I started doing the 6 Word Diet, which, if it had a different name, might interest more people. The principle of it is to "eat 100 calories every ninety minutes". I had to work my way into it and 100 calories is not enough for me, I eat 150 but not at every meal. This way of eating can be as healthy or unhealthy as you make it. It's supposed to work out into 12 meals a day, 1200 calories. It's on Spark People but doesn't seem to have a good following, one of the reasons might be that it isn't easy to follow, especially if you're working or eating out. It takes some thought and planning. It's perfect for me, it seems to suit my digestive system. I'm averaging 1/2 lb loss a day but have not done it long term but it's working for now. I've lost 3 of the 6 lbs I gained while away, started on Saturday.

Yesterday was my first day to really feel like myself. What havoc 2 weeks can play, especially if I change my eating and exercise habits, like not doing much of anything. Did my Quickfire challenges throughout the day yesterday, first day I've done them since I returned. It definitely gave me an energy boost both mentally and physically & I slept better. I've been walking every day, 1.3 miles at a time, twice a day when I can. I track my mileage with the Spark People tracker. I would do more but the heat in S Fla. is too much for me. Everyone I know here is looking forward to the winter.

All the best in your new diet! I think it is great that you are being pro-active with you health.

Also, "Thank-You" for QuickFiring Your Day! It changed my life and is my one constant because I do change up my diet here and there, but QFC are to stay!

Good for you Kathy, if you can handle that diet! I don't think that I could!
Way too much planning for me, as I just count my calories as I eat them.
I know what you mean by being gone and coming home and trying to get back in the exercising and the eating routine again. It is hard to get back!
My hubby wants me to take a trip in Oct for 2 to 3 weeks. What can I say?
I hope I don't gain weight!! Oh well, I guess I will do what you are doing, just get back to the routine again!
I wish you well with this diet plan, keep us posted!

I have been doing the 6 WORD DIET now since April 5th. I have lost 15 lbs. in that time. SLOWLY, not fast as I would like, but it is coming off. I bought my self a notebook, and have used a ruler to mark each page with the TIME, FOOD, Calorie, and amt. I follow this ALL the time. It DOES take planning, and I shoot for variety in my eating, to get in enough nutrients. I TOO eat more than 100 most of the time, but only add up to about 1350 total a day. I am single, and eating this way works for me.
