Sixteen and Counting....

Saturday, August 08, 2009

Wow, I knew it was coming, but I'd forgotten how good it feels. I'm not exactly at goal, but I'm down 16 pounds, and know that I've found my missing link - SparkPeople. I'm wearing a smaller size and giving my larger clothes away. I don't want to keep the big clothes, because I really don't plan on needing them ever again. No fail-safe plan this time.

This website has done so much for me. I am working together with my sisters (on a private team). I love chatting with them every day, and sharing our collective weight loss journey. We are all losing weight and staying connected. I also have leadership responsibilities with with the Chandler SP team and with my Fibro Friends - if this doesn't motivate me, nothing will.

I look forward to my SparkPeople time every day - I poke in about three times a day to look for new members; read blogs and posts; send SparkGoodies; leave comments on SparkPages; etc. I've been sparking faithfully since the middle of April (almost 4 mos.) and I post my progress every friday, regardless of whether the scale is up or down.

I have used a lot of computer/web-based nutrition trackers over the years, and SparkPeople's tracker is my favorite, by far. I love looking at the numbers at the bottom of the screen to make sure I'm getting all the nutrients that my body needs. This has actually turned needs into wants. I am craving yogurt, fresh fruits and salads like never before, and I am starting to feel healthy on the inside.

It took me a while to come up with a fitness program that works for me; but I have customized the fitness tracker routines for my individual goals. I love the fact that I have given myself Friday and Saturday off. I use the treadmill three-days a week, and do a full-body strength training routine two-days a week. I use yoga to stretch out after every workout - so I'm continuing to burn calories and condition muscles during my stretch. This plan feels really good right now.

I also use EFT (tapping) to eliminate cravings, and meditation to visualize myself "in my perfect body." I listen to a couple of hypnosis-type CD's - The Gabriel Method, and I Can Make You Thin. I switch back and forth and try to listen to each of them at least once a week (usually more). Although I think they both have very positive (even powerful) messages, I'm not a slave to either program. I am very happy following my SparkPlan and I'm becoming very aware of what my body does and doesn't like.

I hope that this weight-loss "HIGH" that I am feeling will rub-off (so to speak), and help motivate some of my SparkFriends. Happy weight-loss to all!!!

What a very inspiring blog - thank you for sharing! I'm a newbie and in search of SP buddies that I can count on to encourge, push and support me. I love when people share their stories and updates through their weight loss journey. I hope to do the same for others. Would love to be a SP friend and looking forward to more of your blogs - take care.
