Fun and Interesting Weekend

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

I've been a bit MIA from the team again this week - hard to keep up with everything! Last Saturday we went to DD's house in Chicago - we hadn't seen them in a month and the 3 month old grew A LOT (will post pictures when I get a chance). Our son and dil also came, and we celebrated DH's and DD's birthdays. Then on Sunday we all trouped to downtown Chicago (at 6:00 AM!)where our son ran in the Chicago half-marathon. We were all really proud of him!

In the evening there was a picnic at my brother's house to host a cousin from The Netherlands whom I had never met, and his wife who is from Spain - I think she said from near Vigo. We had an interesting evening of English, Dutch, and Spanish - I think everyone had a great time!

DD came home from Chicago with us, along with the 3 boys (ages 4 yrs, 19 months, and 3 months). She seems to be adjusting to her busy brood of boys. I took Monday off and spent a lot of time with the 2 older ones as DD had a bad cold and needed a break.

Needless to say, it's been very difficult to think much about exercise and tracking my food! Especially with all the family gatherings and good food. Tonight we had a potluck with a church group. It's going to be good to get back in the health groove again tomorrow! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon Ena, I am happy for you. There are always great times with family especially when there is a baby in the bunch of them. I know you must have had better things to do than tracking food and counting calories. Besides, you have developed the habit of watching what you're eating, so there you go. What a fun way to celebrate DH & DD birthdays. emoticon Happy Birthday to both! Plus to enjoy the English, Dutch & Spanish. I'm glad you could make this memory. I am sure you got plenty of excercise. I did not realize how much excercise I really do log when I am wearing my pedometer. Your son running in the Chicago half marathon must have been a real treat. Blessings!!

WOW, Shirley. It sure sounds like you are having a great time and making wonderful memories you will never forget. Enjoy those little ones while they are still little, they just grow so fast.
Happy birthday to DH and DD. I'm sure they had a ball with all that was going on.
