Getting there

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

I may start a thread called "getting there" ! Cause many of us are pretty well "getting there", maintaining, hovering, changing habits, making long-term alterations.

It's not really about being "done"--in fact, I doubt I will ever feel done. But real changes have happened. I still 'splurge' on occasion, but even those splurges are more limited, and I eat much more healthily than I did when I began, just as part of my every day life.

This works. I'm so glad I found Spark People!
And while the tracking is brilliant, and the exercise necessary, at a deep level, for's all about the people!

We are "getting there" -aren't we! I've often thought about how change we're not planning or thinking about happens in an instant but how changes we want to make seem to take forever...

To me, "doneness" is being done with the old self-distructive behaviors... not the occassional splurge, treat, vacation, etc... that stuff is part of Living - and I'm working hard now to figure out how to live and lose at the same time!

I must say, it's so good to have you and Ti and the others on our class that are already in maintenance paving the way for the rest of us who are working so hard to get there!

And yes - this site has great tools... but the people are even greater!

I agree completely---it is all about the people! I wouldn't have stayed active without that element. By the way---YOU are one of the main reasons that I love SP!
