...or I would be if I wasn't as motivated as I am. I'm really excited about all of the gym time I've put in recently. My body, however, is protesting.


If I even look in the direction of the treadmill, my shins scream in protest, cramping and siezing like little epileptic muscles. Therefore, I do not run.

In the very small window of time, three weeks ago mind you, that I did get to yawg, I pulled a muscle in my left side. That spasms every time I get out of the car in the parking lot outside of the gym, as if to tell me, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Now I seem to have developed some pain in my Achilles tendon on my right side.

So lets whip out our handy dandy notebooks and see what the clues are telling me:

Yes, folks, I need to take it easy.

I definitely don't pay as much attention to stretching as I should, so my very first order of business is paying closer attention to that. I did some heel/calf/foot stretches this evening to help loosen up my tendon. I'm icing it now and its feeling pretty good at this point.

I also need to get into some more cross training. I'm a swimmer by trade, and though its very difficult to get to a pool for lap swim, I need to make more of an effort to do so because its so much better on my joints.

Secondly, I need to work on weights as well, to strengthen the muscles and tendons to better support my body. I've been going to the gym with a friend, and we've got an appointment in the morning with one of the trainers to work on customizing and building workouts. I'm hoping to get some pointers on my feet/ankles and also my back, since I have some terrible posture. It gives me a little back pain.

Now that I reread this all, I am one hot mess. Its a good thing I'm working on improving my body. Its falling apart now...I shudder to think what it would be like in a few decades if I don't exercise now.

    Today (Friday) is going to be my day off, and I think I'm gonna hit the pool tomorrow. Sunday I plan on being incredibly hungover from Saturday

    All in all, its going to be a relatively gym-free weekend.

    Ooooh your poor body really is begging for a rest!

    Maybe you could try sticking with something a little more low impact for a few days, like just walking or Yoga? Or maybe give yourself a few days off entirely?

    Please don't push yourself so hard that you get hurt and end up having to be sidelined for real!
