Okay, so I've been a lifetime yo-yo dieter. I can't say I'm proud of that, but it is part of who I am, so I have to claim it. I've tried every crazy diet out there. But now I find myself here again. You know, the place where you look in the mirror and think....."Yuck!". The place where you avoid having your picture taken at family gatherings because every photo is another painful reminder of how, well, gross you feel. The place where you no longer feel comfortable in your own skin.
You know there has to be a change, so you spend your time searching for just the right thing. Something that will hopefully work....this time.
I've learned a great deal of useful information through my years of being on the "diet" merry-go-round.
First thing I learned? Crash diets don't work!! Yes, you can starve yourself, eat nothing but grapefruit, or some horrid tasting shake and lose pounds initially. But.....and there is a but here, for real long term weight loss, this just doesn't work. You can't maintain a diet like this for long. Eventually the body rebels because it's truly not getting everything it needs nutrition wise. And the weight WILL come back.
The second very useful piece of information I've learned actually didn't come from dieting, but from my certification courses in hypnotherapy (yes, I am a certified hypnotist). In the course of my education I learned about the battle that goes on between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind and how our mind sabotages our efforts to lose weight and why willpower alone does not work.
