Don't Let Reality Ruin Your Day

I was doing so well - consistently exercising at least 180 minutes/week, changing up to make sure each session was challenging....then I went on vacation. Don't get me wrong--I had a great time! My sister and I did some aerobic shopping. You know the kind...."Did I put this dress on over my head or my hips? I can't remember, and it doesn't look like it will come OFF either way"... We both ended up with sore muscles just from laughing while wriggling me into/out of dresses.

So, after three thousand miles in the car and a week of goofing off why did I think I'd be able to hop back on the treadmill and pick up exactly where I left off?

I went to roll out of bed yesterday and discovered my legs wanted to register a protest at suddenly being required to perform again. Even today, I found myself tired long before I reached the intensity I'd been working out at before.

Today I cut myself some slack. I didn't work out as long or hard. Later (when I'd recovered) I did a couple of 10-minute workout videos. Tomorrow I may have more body parts protesting about their vacation being over. But I'll bet by this time next week I'll be able to work out with the same intensity as pre-vacation!
