A positive to something that used to really annoy me...

Living in a roomate situation where you all have very different schedules used to really bug me when it comes to eating...there's the standard stuff like it gets annoying to share a fridge with three other people, lots of wasted leftovers, and the biggest for one! I used to think it was kind of a pain to cook for one and I rarely end up eating all of my leftovers, just cause I've never been a fan of leftovers I guess. Or I throw them away cause I forget about them/am too busy or out of town.

So the positive in cooking for one??? Since I've started SparkPeople I've been trying to cook more just so I have more control over what I eat and can out more thought into it...but I still have the leftover issue. So I've been trying really hard to just cook one meal's worth of food. It's not always the easiest to do. But it's totally helped with portion control! I think that's a big part of why I've been able to stay in my calorie range on most days....when I'm done with my plate that's all there is to eat! I think I used to overeat just cause it was there and I wanted to taste more...not because I was still hungry. It's made for a good trade off...I don't have to eat yucky leftovers and it's helping me be healthy :-)

My biggest challenge is still being healthy at work....cause there is always OPF (other people's food :-P) aka customer's leftovers....not as gross as it sounds...promise!!!! Lol. And those of us that work there are like family and we are constantly bringing stuff in for each other...It was zuccini bread two days ago, mint brownies yesterday, and turtle brownies today!! Plus everyone's junk snack food....It's really testing my we have been very slow this summer (weather and economy????) so there is less time to keep busy without standing around eating...

Haven't lost any weight yet...but I do feel better...both mentally from doing somethin good for myself, and physically for putting (mostly) good things into my body combined with the exercize I was already getting. :-)

I also live with roommates. I've found it helpful to cook in bulk and then divide the leftovers into either half cup or one cup Gladware containers. Then all week I can just grab one portion and go. They are great to pack for lunches, or make a quick dinner. I really hate microwave dinners and doing this tastes better, leaves me more satisfied and has much less sodium.
