Giving back

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Today I continue on the mission I started 2 years ago when my brother died. I am going to volunteer for the Jimmy Fund for Dana Farber. I will be that person collecting money at the movie theater. I feel it is important to give back to this organization for all that they gave my brother during his 17 years as a DF cancer patient. In some small way I am giving the gift of Jan every time I participate.

So if you are at the movies and you see me (or another volunteer), give what you can. Give generously. Give a little. Just give. A little really can go a long way.

Thank you for sharing. I often see people collecting money for charities, but you never know anything about the person standing there. Now you shown me that that person may be personally connected in a personal way to the cause. Your brother would be very proud of what you are doing.
    God Bless you!

emoticon Good for you; I know it must bring you some comfort to be able to have a goal & do something positive to help remember your brother & help others at the same time. My daughter has been dealing with cancer since the age of 2 & she is now 34, so we know how this awful disease can hurt the whole family. emoticon emoticon Vicki
