A "WILD" day - hippos galore, and eventually some ellies too...

Spent most of the day today sitting on my bum in the car! (I think I deserved a rest day after a hard week of training, anyway, so don't feel too bad, and I ate well too.)
We had a fantastic family outing to the Pilanesberg game reserve, and spent 5 and a half game viewing before heading back home to Pretoria. Despite the boys getting a bit whiny towards the end, everybody enjoyed the trip and being in the bush again.
We were very lucky - this is what we saw : giraffe, elephant ( oddly they were a bit elusive this time, but on our way out of the park we saw a mom with 2 young ones, as well as a lone bull), PLENTY of hippos (big and small, and not in the water, but sunning themselves and grazing, probably due to the cold weather), a baby crocodile, a monitor, white rhino, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, red hartebeest, a resting lion's ears (couldn't see the rest unfortunately - too many game viewing cars parked around this "highlight of the day"), waterbuck, warthog, and lots of great bird sightings, my best being a Fish Eagle at a water hole.
