Losing and Gaining

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Can anyone tell me.....how come it is so easy to gain weight, but soooooo hard to lose it?

I can gain 5 lbs in 4 days, but it takes weeks to lose that much.

I hopped onto the scale today and well, I have gained 6 lbs since last week. Now, I know TOM is visiting and all but, I really think I gained some weight. We were away over the weekend and I ate tons of cheese and drank way too much. Alcohol contains way too many calories. As I reflect back on my choices over the weekend, they were not all that bad. I did eat way more than I would normally. Lesson learned though.

Lately it has been killer HOT here in southwest Florida. It is making it difficult for me to get my exercise in during the day. My weight bench/gym is in the garage-it has been reading 110 degrees in there...yuck! I like to walk at night because the sun is not out (still hot though) but the mosquitoes are killer....man I have tons of excuses, don't I? I am going to make a serious attempt to swim in the pool everyday. Swimming doesn't seem to do anything to drop weight for me though. I have got to get disciplined enough again to exercise in the living room early in the day. I never seem to have the privacy I like.

Well, back to the grind of working on a fabulous looking me. No one ever said this was going to be easy!

I hope you all are having a fabulous day!

    Hey Girl,
I think you should try the pool. I did a water aerobics class a few summers ago, and it really made a difference when I would weigh in at WW (I was going to WW at the time). I think at the very least, water walk (I have to agree with our SP Friend below). Keep it GOING GIRL!!!

I hear you on the heat, but that actually makes it easier to head to the gym and stay longer: I dread going back outside after a workout :D The "easy" gain and "hard" losses are a pain in the butt, I agree! If life were fair it would be the other way around!

You can always try "water walking" in your pool....10 mins walking the perimiter one way, then turn around and go the other way. Builds muscles AND is a better workout than just swimming to me. And *comforts* about the gain. I can gain 6 lbs overnight and it takes weeks to losr it. I hate when that happens!

hehe, nope it isn't easy, otherwise we would all be skinny model size, isn't that what they say?!?! I know what you mean about loosing /gaining, it seems to take a month to loose an amount I can gain in a weekend!!!!! Onwards and upwards though - get the food back on the right track, exercise can fit in when it can, xxx
