It's getting hot in here!

So the story of the skipping rope would not be complete if I did not give the whole picture. I was in the garage to look for (turquoise) shoes to go with a (green) dress to take on holiday with me. We are part of this year's European Pinball Championship (in the UK) organizing crew and as part of the 3 day event there is a gala dinner for which the guys tend to make no effort whatsoever, but I am not a guy :-P ...so I needed to take a dress!

Upon entering the garage I could smell damp in the air, and the opening of the box of shoes confirmed my fear...there on the surface of the shoes on top I could see tell tale round fuzzy patches... I had mould :(

Oh c**p...I still have 3 boxes of clothes in here...

So yesterday was spent mostly lugging the boxes of clothes and the 2 boxes of shoes up the 2 flights of stairs and sorting out. There was some visible traces of mould, and the lot smells musty, but no big damage..I caught it on time!

Downside...well, it all needs to be washed and dried and put away really...in corresponding fits/soon/not this year boxes of course.

So, today the washing machine has already ran three times, the drier twice, and
every single pair of shoes that had been put to dry yesterday has been given a thorough rub and has been put away (who knew, I only have 40 pairs left!).

Putting away my shoes brought back memories as I pretty much know where and when I bought each pair, from the old battered DM's bought from Camden market that I wore every time I went to the parachute camp, and the dainty bright blue fabric stilettos I picked up for 2.50 from a market stall on a rainy carboot day to the 6 inches tall stripy platforms I used to cycle in to Uni, much to my lecturer's amazement! But it also made me face how my confidence plummeted from the happy brightly coloured high heels of my fit and slim days to the shapeless flats and trainers I have been wearing recently.

Oh I can't wait to be back in my heels!

So for now, in between washes I am planning my 2 weeks away (because apparently we HAVE TO stay for the World Championship the following week) in terms of food, exercise...and knitting :)

So, tell me, does clothing take you to memory lane too?

(oh I forgot..the heat from the title? Try running a dryer in a small flat for the whole morning when the outside temperautr is already 25C...)

Psychology by shoe, eh, sounds interesting. I personally have 3 pairs of shoes: 1 pr trainers, 1 pr black flats; 1 pr sandals my daughter nagged me to buy. Doesn't help taking a 3EEE.

Make sure you tell us the story of the Pinball Championship! Sounds like it could be a hilarious one...

And you'll be strutting your stuff in your stilettos in no time!
